Switzerland's public transport sector is entering a major phase of structural transformation. As traditional ticket machine usage declines, the industry faces the challenge of keeping travel simple, inclusive and affordable for all. With around 250 transport operators collaborating through the nationwide Alliance SwissPass, the goal is clear: deliver a seamless, unified 'One Journey' experience for every passenger. A central pillar of this evolution is the move towards and account-based, paper and cashless ticketing model. For SBB, this transition carries a strong responsibility: supporting national harmonisation, contributing to common standards and driving innovation across the network.

Drawing on market research, field tests and newly developed industry products, this session explores what the next 5-10 years of account-based ticketing will look like for Switzerland.
