Breaking Down the Barriers to Public Transport with PAYG
Northern was selected to lead three Digital PAYG trials in Yorkshire with three different suppliers to provide an excellent testbed for this emerging and innovative payment system in the UK, whereby customers can tap in to the journeys via their device and allow GPS tracking alongside an intelligent back office to calculate the best fares for their journey. This is alongside emerging integrated and capped PAYG systems in Greater Manchester and the North East, as elected mayors create local, integrated transport systems across the North.
With highly encouraging early results and deep customer insight, Alex will present early lessons and success stories, and answer the question: where could this all lead to next across an integrated railway inside a range of multi-modal public transport networks across the north?
