The need for seamless, uniform and accessible cross-border ticketing that extends beyond train travel to include various modes of public transport in Europe is long overdue. Previous initiatives faced challenges due to incompatible systems and different technical standards, making it difficult to link countries on a broad scale. This presentation introduces the first project to successfully connect national backend systems, incorporating a GPS-based, multimodal travel experience across borders enabling a simple, single ‘swipe-in, swipe-out process.
