Over the last several years we have seen substantial increases in the number of cities implementing open-loop ticketing. Two of the major global agencies to make the switch, London and Vancouver have taken different routes to get to where they are now, but both systems boast highly accessible public transportation systems with low barriers to entry and high utilization rates. In this session, we will hear from Transport for London and Translink on how they’ve experienced the success they’ve had, the lessons they’ve learned as open-loop adopters, and what they would do differently if they could do it all over again.
