In 2024 Transport Scotland published their new Smart & Integrated Ticketing & Payment Delivery Strategy. Transport Scotland’s role is to enable and support the vision to deliver a simple, consistent smart travel experience across all public transport modes, and help to improve the availability, affordability, and accessibility of public transport. This strategy is supported by newly established primary legislation including the creation of a new public advisory board (National Smart Ticketing Advisory Board) to establish a national technological standard for smart ticketing.
