The complexity of multimodal transport system and urban development in Bucharest-Ilfov metropolitan area generates major challenges in terms of integration of systems and re-design of the transport system. The implementation of the MaaS concept could be a force to accelerate the evolution of urban and sub-urban transport and mobility services in this area. The transition to the new concept has to be start with one of the most important components of MaaS, ticketing system. Existing ticketing systems in this metropolitan area are described as well as the challenges of integration of various transport modes (operations, fares, ticketing) and based on this context the technical solution which is the candidate to facilitate the implementation of MaaS is presented.
