The Deutschlandticket was launched as a political project by the government with a national tariff of €49 per month. This flat fare for all local and regional transport was introduced on the basis of a common ticketing standard, including central systems provided by the sector organisation VDV eTicket Service. But much remains unresolved because the PT sector and the government have not yet reached an agreement on who should have overall responsibility for the ticket and therefore for revenue sharing, for example.
