Ticketing Evolution: Transformative Upgrades in Delhi Metro's AFC System

In 2023, The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has successfully upgraded its Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system to introduce National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), QR ticketing and future provision for Account Based Ticketing & NFC Media. This strategic initiative aligns with the evolving landscape of transit systems, emphasizing interoperability, digital ticketing solutions, and cashless payment modes. The project involved upgrading various AFC equipment, including Automatic gates, Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), Ticket Office Machines (TOMs), Add Value Machines (AVMs), and servers at both station and central levels supplied by different OEMs in last 20 years.
