Vinod Bhatia has done his B.Tech (Electronics & Communication Engg) from National Institute of Technology- Hamirpur and M.B.A from Pondicherry University. He has been a Hindu-Hitachi Scholar and has been pursuing PhD in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

His 26 years career spans a range of assignments in Teaching, Public Sector and Government. He has worked with the Indian Railways in various capacities in Operations, Planning, Commercial & Marketing functions as well as with Container Corporation of India (Concor) where he has handled Marketing, Operations & IT.

Presently as General Manager Passenger Reservation System (CRIS), he is looking after development and maintenance of one of the largest Passenger Reservation System in world. He is also a core group member of Centre for Artificial Intelligence in CRIS. He is also a resource person for Indian Railways E-ticketing system which currently serves about 68% of the annual reserved passenger business (about $ 3.38 Bn).
