Narmie Kandiah is the Director, Fare Policy and Systems Strategy at Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), which is the largest Canadian public transit agency, serving over a million transit riders across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) daily.

In this role, Narmie provides strategic leadership for TTC’s fare policy, fare systems, and modernization initiatives, with a focus on customer experience, accessibility, and long-term system sustainability. She leads a team, that over the past two years, has advanced several high-profile initiatives including the launch of the Free Transit for Field Trips Pilot Program, the implementation of the Fare Modernization Program, and the introduction of fare capping. Her work involves close collaboration with TTC’s automated fare collection system provider, Metrolinx, for the PRESTO system, as well as key partners such as the City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario.

With 15 years of experience delivering policy and leading program changes across multiple industries, including transit, medical devices, skincare & cosmetics, and consumer packaged goods, she leads by example, is passionate about supporting growing teams and believes inclusive, accessible public transportation. She currently is a mentor in WTS Toronto Chapter, a member of American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Fare Collection committee and APTA tech’s planning subcommittee.

Narmie holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business.
