Matt joined South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority in 2024 as Director of Bus Reform. He is leading the team and the programme which is preparing to deliver bus franchising for South Yorkshire’s 1.4 million residents from 2027, as part of a wider programme of transport renewal and investment across bus, rail, tram and active travel.

Matt previously spent 9 years at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, leading on all aspects of the bus agenda including the award-winning LCR Bus Alliance and the end-to-end process of the bus reform assessment, through decision making and into the first stages of the transition to franchising.

Before his time in the public sector, Matt spent over a decade at National Express Group, joining initially as a graduate trainee and undertaking management and leadership roles in operations, customer experience, safety and public affairs.
