United Kingdom

Andy Shaw joined TfL in 2007 as a Business Analyst graduate trainee. Working within Surface Transport, he gained experience in business management, business planning and business change. Upon completing the programme in 2009, he joined TfL's Fares and Ticketing team.

During his time in Fares and Ticketing, Andy played a key role in designing and implementing the acceptance of Contactless payment cards on London's transport network, working across TfL's operating businesses to define a range of customer-centric business processes.

Alongside the deployment of Contactless, Andy also led a team of Business Analysts on the re-procurement of TfL's £1bn ticketing and automatic fare collection (AFC) services contract, establishing and capturing TfL's future business needs to ensure the final contract provided TfL with the platform to deliver it's ambitious change programme.

Andy has also led teams on the design and implementation of Oyster and Contactless payments on the River Thames and well as the contractual transition of TfL's popular Cycle Hire scheme.

Andy holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language alongside professional qualifications in both Business Analysis and Project Management. He is now a Senior Product Manager (Payments) in TfL's Technology and Data team where he is accountable for shaping and defining the roadmap for TfL's payments products, ensuring future developments align with both business needs and the overall TfL Technology and Data Strategy across areas including Contactless, Cycle Hire and Road User Charging.
