Andrew Anderson
Andrew has worked in public transport for over 35 years. Graduating from the University of Glasgow, he became Stagecoach Group’s first graduate trainee, focusing on bus operations. He then went on to specialise in smart ticketing solutions and joined Transport for London in 2003, where he was responsible for defining the business rules for the Oyster card. During his time at TfL, he led the definition of the customer proposition and business requirements for contactless pay as you go, been the senior sponsor for several key customer-facing projects, including the fare collection solutions to support the opening of the Elizabeth Line. Most recently he was responsible for the running of TfL’s full revenue collection service, collecting over £5bn annually.
He is now an independent consultant, helping authorities and operators to successfully deliver pay as you go schemes through his extensive experience in project sponsorship and delivery, business development, fare collection strategy, commercial agreements, contract management and managing relationships with partner operators and government stakeholders.
Andrew is also chair of the Smart Transport Advisory Group and a Trustee of Angus Rural Partnership.
