Sharon has worked for Britain’s independent watchdog for rail passengers since 2006.
Transport Focus conducts an extensive programme of research to explore and understand passenger experience and expectations of rail services.
Sharon works in the policy team and leads work on the rail contracts programme. She uses passenger research to make the case for improvements. Value for money, reliability and effective management of disruption are key themes.
Recent focus has been on exploring passenger attitudes to, and experiences of, fare evasion and revenue protection. A research project has provided a range of perspectives to share with the industry. This information will be used to encourage improved revenue protection practices that focus on bringing deliberate and persistent offenders to account but protect the interests of those people who have made innocent mistakes.
