Malcolm Lowe
Malcolm has been interested in technology ever since his father brought home a personal computer when he was 13 years old. Since then technology has been at the centre and forefront of his academic and professional career. He loves doing stuff with users for users using technology and data.
Having worked across multiple industry sectors including Consulting, Government, Finance, Utility, Retail, HR and most recently Transport Malcolm is a passionate believer in putting the user first and creating user centric digital teams and products with multi-disciplined teams using agile and iterative test and learn approaches.
Currently the Head of IS at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), Malcolm's previous positions have included Senior Manager with Accenture, IT Director for a global Procurement Outsourcer and IT Director and Chief Technology Officer for the Department for Work and Pensions. Working at various organisational levels from operational IT, through design, development, strategic visioning, to Board level.
As Head of IS for TfGM Malcolm is transforming the technology, people, process and data as TfGM become a digital transport organisation. Recently he also took on the role of Head of Ticketing, leading and implementing an “intelligentâ€' contactless ticketing system on the Greater Manchester (GM) Metrolink, supported by modern customer management and insight and analytics platforms, as part of a wider programme of Ticketing solutions across the GM transport network.
Outside of work Malcolm likes spending time with his family and keeping abreast of technology trends and innovations. To relax he likes to play his guitar along to the songs of his favourite bands Metallica and Iron Maiden.
