Kevin Farquharson
Kevin Farquharson is a highly experienced Programme Manager and Solution Consultant in the uses and applications of smart media. He is an expert in payment applications, account based ticketing, transport ticketing, mobile technology, contactless media, smart ticketing, wearables, resident cards, reward schemes and university card schemes. Kevin has over 30 years wide-ranging experience successfully implementing IT programmes and projects and responsible for multi-million-pound projects, processing billions of pounds in revenues. He has gained his experience in Government, Transport, Local Authority, Oil & Gas, Finance, Utility and Technology sectors. After reading engineering at Cambridge University, he was elected a Chartered Engineer and to full membership of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He worked in telecoms before moving into IT consultancy and project management. Through his work for blue chip clients and in the transport sector, Kevin has been investigating and solving contract delivery and performance problems throughout his career.
Kevin is a qualified project manager with experience of Agile, Prince2 and MSP methods. His knowledge and expertise cover all methods of ticketing (i.e.,staffed ticket office, web, mobile, self-service, ticket collection, self-print, barcode to mobile, Oyster, cEMV UK Cards Models, proprietary and ITSO smartcard), ticket types, retail channels and revenue protection (on train, gates, inspectors and data analysis).Kevin is an active member of the Transport Card Forum (TCF) and has provided significant input to Local Authority Smartcard Standards, UK Cards Assoc and ITSO Supplier Working Groups. Kevin has regularly contributed to industry forums and is joint chair of STAG (Smart Transport Advisory Group).
