John has almost 40 years' experience in the Transport Industry in both the Public and Private sectors. Following positions in transport management with Barclays Bank, Robinsons Holidays and Lancashire County Council, in 1998 John took up the challenge of organising the transport functions for the new Unitary Council of Blackburn with Darwen and later with Capita Symonds in Blackburn as Head of Highways & Transport. John was part of the team which developed and introduced the ITSO NoWCard Smart Card in the North West of England and a number of associated spin offs.  In the early days of the development of the ITSO standard, John was a member of the ITSO Technical Committee. In 2007, John returned to the private sector in the role of Operations Director for Transdev Blazefield's Lancashire bus operations looking after a fleet of 200 buses and associated staff. Now in a consultancy role John works with Pilkington Bus (a small family-owned bus operator) in Accrington, Lancashire where an internet based ticketing app was replaced earlier this year with a mobile resident app. John is also external Transport Manager for a North West Local Authority. John holds a Master of Science Degree in Transport and Distribution Management is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation.
