Ian has been involved in bus operations management and the development of smart ticketing and fares strategies for over 40 years. During that time he has worked as a bus network manager in Tyne & Wear as well as being a lead on early work there that led to the establishment of ITSO. In 2000 Ian joined public transport consultancy SYSTRA where he led the Fares, Ticketing and payments team for several years supporting and advising many major smart ticketing schemes across the United Kingdom and Ireland. In January 2024 he joined Transport for Wales to lead their work on bus fares, ticketing and revenue strategies in preparation for bus franchising.
